Kansas Cattleman Speaks About His Journey with Regenerative Agriculture
Jay Young is extremely passionate about regenerative ag and enjoys sharing his journey into the world of soil health. He has spoken at conferences on a verity of topics including, regenerative agriculture in dry environments, getting started with compost extract and rotational grazing. This FREE program is sponsored by the John Redmond WRAPS with funding from an EPA319 grant.
The Youngs have been farming in Greeley County, Kansas, since 1906. They have a long history with cattle and raising stockers since the 1940s. Jerry and Jay have a passion for cattle, and as a kid, Jay always wanted to have a cow/calf operation, but with limited grass in Greeley County made this dream seem impossible. However, a dream was born in 2016 with the emergence of cover crops in the farming industry, and with a lot of research, Jay came up with a plan to raise cattle year-round on cover crops.
